Dean Russel Visits Korea

William Russel, Dean of the Graduate School, visited Seoul in August. He was accompanied by his wife and a graduate student from Princeton. Selected for his post from among exisiting Princeton professors in 2002, Russel is the first member of the engineering faculty to hold the position in more than 20 years.

"Dr. Russel has the perspective of a longtime faculty member," said President Shirley Tilghman in an interview in the Daily Princetonian. "He knows the University very well, he's trained many grad students over the years and, above all, he's just a really decent human being."

One of the attendees estimated that 40 to 50 people were in attendance at the reception, including several people from a Rheology Conference which was also taking place in Seoul at the time. The reception was held at the Shilla Hotel on August 24.
